Senior Youth Officer,
Honourable Dr. Daniel Johnson, MP
Minister of Youth, Sports and Culture
It is indeed with deep sadness that I acknowledge the passing of a dear colleague, outstanding officer and friend to the thousands of youth who are engaged by our Ministry. Mrs. Patty Miller has been a long standing employee of the Government of The Commonwealth of The Bahamas, serving the mandate of the Ministry of Youth, Sports of Culture.
Mrs. Miller was recognized as my Ministry’s employee of the Year in 2011, an honour which I believe was overdue considering her many accomplishments in the name of the Government of The Bahamas, and the incalculable success stories we can recall, resulting from her diligence in the execution of her assigned duties and tasks.
We all have been touched by Patty’s passing, and though she was quiet and well reposed, her contributions were to the opposite; impactful, strategic, far-reaching and could be measured on any axes of social science contribution both locally or internationally.
As such, on behalf of myself, and that of the Permanent Secretary, Mr. Calvin J. Balfour and Staff of the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Culture, I extend heartfelt condolences to Wellington (widower), Wellecia (daughter), Padero (son), and the rest of the Family, including her parents Ms. Althea Poitier and Mr. Bennet Seymour, siblings and others. May the God of all comfort be with you during this difficult time.
May her soul rest in Peace.
Mrs. Patty M. Miller, B.A., A.A
Senior Youth Officer
