45th Anniversary of Independence    EVENTS AND ACTIVITIES

HAPPY INDEPENDENCE!

The Government of The Commonwealth of The Bahamas is pleased to announce the calendar of events scheduled to mark the nation's 45th Anniversary of Independence.  All events are free to the general public at no cost with a few of them requiring invitations as are noted below. 

  • Friday, June 29, 2018 @ 6:00 p.m. – Official launch of the 45th Independence celebrations by Prime Minister Hubert Minnis in Rawson Square, and Rush to Independence (East and Bay Streets to George Street).
     

  • Sunday, July 1, 2018 @ 3:00 p.m. – Beat Retreat, Rawson and Parliament Squares.
     

  • Monday, July 2, 2018 @ 7:00 p.m. – National Command Performance featuring the National Youth Choir, the National Children’s Choir, the National Youth Orchestra, and the National Dance Company at the Performing Arts Center, University of The Bahamas.
     

  • Thursday, July 5, 2018  – Queen’s New Year’s Honours, Government House. (By Invitation only)
     

  • Friday, July 6, 2018 @ 10:00 a.m. – National Pride Day/Flag Day, Rawson Square (Pride Day will feature a National Walking History Classroom).
     

  • Saturday, July 7, 2018 @ 6:00 a.m. — National Health Fun, Run and Walk, Goodman’s Bay.
     

  • Saturday, July 7, 2018 @ 7:00 p.m. – Icon Awards, Melia Nassau Beach Resort. (Ticketed event)
     

  • Monday, July 9, 2018 — The Region Bells Concert, Evangelistic Temple. (Ticketed event)
     

  • Monday, July 9, 2018 – Grand Anniversary Celebrations; Tattoo and Fireworks Display, Clifford Park.
     

  • Tuesday, July 10, 2018 @ 2:00 a.m. – The People’s Love and Unity Rush, Bay Street.
     

  • Tuesday, July 10, 2018 – Announcement of the National Hero’s Award, Government House. (By Invitation only)
     

  • Tuesday, July 10, 2018 – State reception, Government House (By invitation only)
